The flooding was last week, but there is still work to do.
Disaster again in Louisiana.
Water destroyed homes and business. The issue is this: After large volumes of water infiltrates a structure more is required than just simply waiting for all too dry. Flooding causes immense and irreparable damage. Mud, mold and mildew are some of the noticeable damages this disaster leaves behind. Many of our Louisiana brothers and sisters were evacuated to shelters. In most cases, all their worldly possessions were destroyed.
Kindness or compassion is a common trait found in majority who are citizens of United States. We unite quickly to assist in whatever way we can, helping others by giving time or money. The New Testament teaches in Galatians 5:22, "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!" NLT
However, when the cameras leave thoughts of the tragedy disappear along with most donations and contributions. Unfortunately, the need is still existing. What can we do to continue supporting the Louisiana cause? Simple, we must continue to donate and volunteer.
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” (Galatians 6:9) NLT
Below are a few organizations who you can contact that are taking donations:
1. Hopewell North Missionary Baptist Church
Pastor Timothy J. Woods and the congregation of Hopewell North Missionary Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama are currently collecting toiletries, gift cards and monetary donations that will help fill a need in Louisiana. The deadline to contribute is September 4, 2016. Monetary contributions can be submitted by accessing the churches' website: Hopewell North, click on the donations link. 2. The Red Cross
Monetary donations can also be made to the American Red Cross as well by clicking on Red Cross Louisiana Floods.
3. United Way
United Way of Southeast Louisiana is also actively seeking volunteers and donations. More information can be found on their home page: United Way of Southeast Louisiana.
The most important thing is that we all continue to help. Some may give money, and others may give time. No gift is too small. It all helps. Luke 6:38 teaches: "Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full--pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back." NLT
Finally, disaster can happen to anyone. No one is immune to a natural disaster. And one day this could be us. We never know when we may be in need. So be a blessing and do what you can. "And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!" (Psalms 90:17)
